Full spectrum oils contain all the natural therapeutic compounds that exist in cannabis including CBD and THC. They also include natural terpenes and flavonoids that provide health benefits through cell signaling pathways and antioxidant effects.
Full spectrum products are known to have greater medicinal benefits than isolate oils or broad spectrum oils which do not contain all the therapeutic compounds.
Understanding CBD and THC
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a naturally occuring compound found in the Cannabis Sativa plant. It is non-psychotropic, which means that it does not cause intoxication or a high but at the same time has many therapeutic effects. It is best known for its anti-inflammatory, pain and stress relieving properties.
THC is also a compound derived from the Cannabis Sativa plant. It stands for tetrahydrocannabinol. Of all the compounds present in cannabis, it is the only intoxicating compound, it also has several medical benefits such as pain management, nausea reduction, anti-inflammation and muscle relaxing properties.
CBD and THC are two of the most well known and well researched compounds found in the same Cannabis plant species. They both have a plethora of therapeutic effects, the big difference is that CBD does not induce a high whereas THC does. CBD infact reduces some of the psychoactive effects generated by THC.
No CBD is not a psychotropic compound and does not cause any intoxication or high. In fact, CBD helps neutralize the effects of THC. THC activates a certain neuroreceptor in the brain that causes you to feel intoxicated and CBD helps block it. Therefore, CBD causes more of a calming and relaxing effect.
CBD is being used to treat health conditions of pets in different parts of the world. Please consult a qualified veterinarian before administering CBD products to any pet.
