Cannabis 101
Cannabis extract entails a wide range of products that includes any extract of the cannabis plant, including extracts from marijuana and hemp. These extracts contain high levels of cannabinoids like CBD and THC along with natural terpenes and flavonoids which have multiple medical properties. Hemp extracts contain higher levels of CBD, while marijuana extracts have higher levels of THC.
Cannabinoids are naturally occurring therapeutic compounds found in the Cannabis sativa plant. The most well known among these compounds are CBD and THC.
Full spectrum oils contain all the natural therapeutic compounds that exist in cannabis including CBD and THC. They also include natural terpenes and flavonoids that provide health benefits through cell signaling pathways and antioxidant effects.
Full spectrum products are known to have greater medicinal benefits than isolate oils or broad spectrum oils which do not contain all the therapeutic compounds.
Understanding CBD and THC
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a naturally occuring compound found in the Cannabis Sativa plant. It is non-psychotropic, which means that it does not cause intoxication or a high but at the same time has many therapeutic effects. It is best known for its anti-inflammatory, pain and stress relieving properties.
THC is also a compound derived from the Cannabis Sativa plant. It stands for tetrahydrocannabinol. Of all the compounds present in cannabis, it is the only intoxicating compound, it also has several medical benefits such as pain management, nausea reduction, anti-inflammation and muscle relaxing properties.
CBD and THC are two of the most well known and well researched compounds found in the same Cannabis plant species. They both have a plethora of therapeutic effects, the big difference is that CBD does not induce a high whereas THC does. CBD infact reduces some of the psychoactive effects generated by THC.
No CBD is not a psychotropic compound and does not cause any intoxication or high. In fact, CBD helps neutralize the effects of THC. THC activates a certain neuroreceptor in the brain that causes you to feel intoxicated and CBD helps block it. Therefore, CBD causes more of a calming and relaxing effect.

Yes, Wholeleaf products are full spectrum which means that they contain all the natural compounds found in cannabis including trace amounts of THC.
Wholeleaf products contain all natural therapeutic compounds found in cannabis including CBD and THC. When consumed orally, depending on the dosage they may cause temporary psychoactive effects due to the THC content. The topical products though do not cause any of the psychoactive effects.
Prescription Information
Only products for oral consumption require a prescription. All our topical products are OTC which means that they can be bought without a prescription.
Upon ordering a prescription item you will receive a confirmation email, Kindly reply to this with an attachment of your prescription. Your order will be dispatched within 24 hours of receiving a valid prescription.
If you don't have prescription, you may Click Here to schedule a virtual consultation with an Ayurveda expert who will be able to best advise you on your recommended dosage as per your ailment. It is a fairly easy process and same day consults can be scheduled.
A valid prescription has the following information:
1. Name and address of the Doctor.
2. Doctor’s stamp or signature.
3. Patient name and age.
4. Date of visit or date of the prescription.
5. Name of medicine, dosage, strength and duration for which it is required.
As a company policy we do not accept prescriptions that are over 6 months old.
As per company policy, we do not ship more than 2 prescription products in a month. Incase you purchase more , a subscription based model is in place where upto 2 products will be shipped to you on a monthly basis.
Side Effects
Although cannabis extract and CBD products are safe to consume, there may be minor temporary side-effects caused due to consuming more than the required dose. These are :-
Dry Mouth
Increase in Appetite
Change in Mood
Drowsiness
Increased heart rate
Temporarily lowered presence of mind
The side effects are likely temporary and will wear off in a few hours at most. Having a meal and hydrating yourself helps regulate the side effects.
When taken sublingually (Below the tongue) , the effects are usually felt by the 30 minute mark from taking it. When ingested (i.e., swallowing it or consuming a food that contains CBD), you can expect to feel the effects somewhere between 45 minutes and 2 hours.
Dosage
The amount of CBD oil one should consume depends on various factors such as body weight , condition type and tolerance to CBD/Cannabis products. For this reason , the dosage is quite subjective. It is recommended to always start with a low dose of 2 - 3 drops per day and then to gradually increase the dosage till you find your sweet spot. Always consult a physician befor taking cannabis/CBD based products.
